Matthew Goulish invites the reader to share in his extraordinary life experience in 39 Microlectures. He succeeds in winding the reader's thoughts through narrow passageways- a trip through his own collection and love for architecture, film, theatre and literature. He shares with us his interpretation on the works of Italo Calvino, Eugene Ionesco, John Cage, Rem Koolhaas and countless others. A wealth of knowledge secured in a concise book, bringing the essence of so many important artistic figures together in one edition. Through the inspired writing of Matthew Goulish, interest is sparked and easily developed upon, using the source notes provided within the book. Absolutely fantastic

At the beginning of the book, Goulish invites you to read out of order; to read partial sentences; to read however you please.
Each microlecture stands beautifully on its own but, together, they create a spirited exploration of art, literature, and life. Perfect for sparking thoughts on these topics. It's great for picking up for fun, too.

Learning by stimulating example

This short book of essays jumps all over the map like an overactive brain bent on sharing insights and experience on everything you need to know at once: it's a trip, and a great one. For my part, I took it in short chapters and learned so much. I remain in awe of author and his daring to do this book his way. Liberation!
