Good Reference Book for Working with the S7 300/400

This book does a great job in describing the various tasks necessary to program the S7 300/400 series of PLC's. Topics are presented in the form of questions such as "How do I add an input card to the configuration". The question is then answered in two ways. First by explaining the necessary steps, then by leading you through step by step.
The author also devotes quite a bit of the book to working with the hardware configuration, as well as describing the various option available when adding and configuring hardware components.
This book is a great supplement to the reference information supplied with Step 7.

Better than the manuals

Book is well ordered and much easier to follow than any of the manuals. It is lacking in information on programming using STL which is often used by European programmers. Personally I hate STL - while efficient it is hard to follow and debug for someone who is used to Ladder or FB programming. A good value for the price.

This is the book to buy if you wish to learn Step 7 programming. I have read other books and manuals on this subject, and this by far is the most effective. It is written in such a way that anyone interested in learning Step 7 will find it easy to understand. Detailed explanations are accompanied with images one will encounter when programming with Step 7.
